We all love a good day at the spa. But if you’re anything like our mums, that probably seems like something from a distant land in a galaxy far far away. There are however some quick and easy ideas you can try at home to help soothe your body and your soul, and they only take a few minutes.

Our team have put together our Top 5 tips, and we can fully vouch for them as tried and tested, and 100% mumma approved!

Shower in the dark? 

Just finished a long day with the kids and jumping into the shower? You may not necessarily have time for a relaxing bath, or feel like one. But have you tried a shower in the dark? Try turning the lights off and running a candle while you shower. You’ll be surprised at how this can relax and soothe you even if it’s only a 5 minute shower. Seems to good to be true? Give it a try. It literally costs nothing but we promise it will rock your world. Our founder Sonya Khouri swears by it. “I once had to do it because our light bulb was out in the bathroom. It was 10pm and I was too buggered to even think about that one. With a toddler I never get a chance to take a bath, so I showered in the dark with the small light of my camera phone. I cannot describe to you how utterly relaxing that 5mins was. The darkness just gives you a sense of serenity among the warmth of the shower. I now do it weekly as a quick de-stress late at night before bed. Wine & unwind?

Just put the kids to bed? I bet that means that while you’re probably very tired and should go to bed yourself, you’re most likely making a beeline for the tv and opening your phone to either Instagram or internet shopping. Am I right? Our gorgeous modern mum Eleni says “dedicate 5-10mins to grab a glass of wine, put on a face mask or foot mask, and simply relax and unwind”. We also highly recommend trying a face roller to massage your face. Apparently 5 minutes a couple times a week is all it takes to create incredible results for fine lines, skin tightening and overall face appearance.

Got balls?

Mumma Natalie shares her best tip. “If you’re house is anything like ours, you probably have a ton of little play balls or tennis balls laying around. Never was there ever a better time than to put them to use. Find a comfy seat and gently roll the ball under your feet. It is one of the most soothing and relaxing sensations you can do at home with minimal effort. You can also use it to roll through your back and your shoulders either against a chair or wall. Extremely incredible at relieving pressure points”. If you want to get properly equipped, we recommend buying a body roller (these things are pure magic). Use it in the evening to roll out through your whole body. It’s very relaxing and bonus the kids will find good use to play with it too! You can pick one up at your local sports store. 

Simply add water!

Grab a nice big bowl, fill it with hot water and add some rose water (available at your local supermarket) or chamomile tea. Place your head over the bowl and cover with a towel. Let the steam do the rest! It won’t disappoint we promise! 
Alternatively our mumma Jenny recommends hanging a sprig of eucalyptus or chamomile tea bag in your shower. “I love it especially in the winter. The steam and soothing scents will transform your shower experience”. 

Time for bed?

Have you tried sleeping on a silk pillowcase or using a silk eye mask? If not, then you’re definitely missing out. We strongly suggest giving this a try and gently spraying a calming room spray around the room. I know you may be sceptical, but you won’t be in the morning when you wake up from the most deepest and luxurious sleep you’ve ever had. This is also the best time to put on an overnight face serum or hair treatment.
