Celebrate Mum With A Long Lunch this Mother's Day
With Mother's Day just around the corner, we get MALO. Founder Sonya Khouri to share her favourite restaurant recommendations for a long lunch celebrating mum.
"Food just has a way of bringing us all together as a family. There is a real comfort about sharing a meal with your closest loves. While I love cooking for my family, Mother's day is one of those times I can let loose & let my boys spoil me. Personally there's nothing more precious that for me than enjoying a lazy long lunch with my little boy for Mother's Day".

Margaret by Neil Perry - Double Bay
Come for the crumbed King George whiting but stay for Neil’s flourless chocolate cake with whipped cream - it truly is the best Mother’s day present, especially with their vanilla bean ice-cream - basically heaven.
Chiswick by Matt Moran - Woollahra
The serene surroundings perfectly compliment the delicious offering by Matt and his team, the tuna carpaccio is a must-have and nobody does the slow roasted lamb better than Matt, add the wood-fired cauliflower with cheese and you are set for a memorable Mother’s day that will be hard to beat.
VICTORIA
There is something about Gimlet that transports you to one of Paris’s great brasseries but also possesses a uniquely Australian feel with the big bright airy windows that makes lunching there a pleasure. Whenever I visit, I make sure to sit along the windows and I never stray from my go-to order - the roasted lobster, it is the most delectable bisque I've ever had the pleasure of trying and to wash it down, the Cavendish House Martini comes perfectly frosted with the right amount of kick to let you relax to truly enjoy your special day.
QUEENSLAND
Agnes is the perfect Mother’s day lunch spot, my idea of a great Mother's day is to get comfortable on the terrace and make sure to sample the sourdough crumpet with scallops. It brings back memories of childhood but feels special enough to enjoy with a glass of Memento Mori organic wine whilst spending quality time with your loved ones.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
An Adelaide institution, the interior alone inspires me but what makes me keep coming back is the family friendly service and the delicious food. The soft shell crab is perfection on a plate, the Vietnamese fresh style oysters are so beautifully prepared straight from the sea, the cocktails are always on point too. Definitely a fave as you know you will be well looked after.
